We may only have one moment in time to help someone in need. The act of enveloping a person in need within a benevolent community embraces and empowers all regardless of age, condition, and station of life.
A benevolent community seeks to alleviate the physical, emotional and spiritual hunger of its members, neighbors, guests and future friends. There is capacity for both the giver and the receiver to experience transformation.

THIS DAY Mission:
The First Presbyterian Church of Johnson City “This Day” Program believes we may only have one moment in time to help someone in need. Our mission is to envelop those individuals and families within a benevolent community. This Day seeks to alleviate physical, emotional, and spiritual hunger through services that provide relief for critically unmet basic needs.
THIS DAY Services:
This Day primarily serves residents of Broome County and surrounding areas. The program freely provides food, clothing, showers, personal hygiene products, small household items, and advocacy. Needs that cannot be met on-site are given hand-to-hand referrals to one of our forty-three partnered organizations.
This Day also offers on-site training for unemployed and underemployed individuals with obstacles to employment through a yearly paid Food Service Trainee mentorship.
Assistance is available for food, clothing, showers, hygiene products, household items, shelter assistance and advocacy Monday through Wednesday from 10am to 2pm. Please ring the doorbell for service.
A free all-you-can-eat hot meal is available on Wednesdays at 5pm with doors opening at 4:30.
A free community all-you-can-eat dinner is served each Wednesday evening throughout the year.
